In June 2022 a four-day long symposium, was organised in Nisyros by NISYRIO & OnMaterials. The symposium explored the concept of sustainability on materials in relation to contemporary art by the approach of Biomimicry, which implies a strategy for integrative development in harmony with nature. It established an interdisciplinary space for artists, cultural practitioners & educational program developers, industrial designers, academics and scientists to connect, research and initiate a dialogue on the field of sustainability in the arts.
Everything said during the symposium was collected by the team of COMM’ON and turned into a Glossary which can act as an educational tool/practice/resource/reference about the sustainability on materials in contemporary art.
This online event aims at initiating a discussion and a cross-sectoral collaboration by inviting members of the network and general audience to participate, share knowledge and exchange experience and practices on sustainability on materials in contemporary art.
